what is e-learning?
Microsoft e-learning courses provide a simple and effective way for you to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule. You'll improve your skills—or learn new ones—from the comfort of your office or home. This self-paced learning environment includes a variety of multimedia tools such as audio, video, simulation, animation, games, hands-on labs, and assessments.
Courses on Office applications and Windows end-user skills are available at no charge to University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students as part of the University's campus agreement with Microsoft.
Note: These courses are not automatically recorded in your Peoplesoft training record. However, you can update your training record manually.

how do I get access?
The e-learning courses are organized into WebVista sites based on the Microsoft product being covered. (WebVista is a course management system used at the U of MN.)
To access the e-learning courses, you will need to request access to the related WebVista site by filling out the Microsoft E-Learning Request Form to the right.
how long will I have access?
Your access to the WebVista e-learning course sites will remain in effect until the end of the current academic year. At the end of the academic year you will have to request access again if you wish to continue using the e-learning course sites.
what are the system requirements?
Microsoft e-learning courses are accessible only on the Windows platform using Internet Explorer. In addition, your computer will need to be configured to access a WebVista site. The complete list of system requirements include:
Microsoft e-learning requirements
- A pentium II, 256 MB RAM with a processor speed of at least 400 MHZ.
- Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
- Macromedia Flash Player 7.0 or higher (get the Adobe Flash Player)
- Windows Media Player 8.0 or higher
- Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
- A Super VGA monitor with 16-bit color and a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher
- A sound card, speakers, or headphones are recommended.
