where is the saved file?

Ever wonder where you saved a Word file? Use the filename and path auto text entry to locate it.

1. Save your document.
2. Place the insertion point where you want the filename and path to appear (the last page of the document is the most common). Remember that if you place it in the footer, it will appear on every page.
3. From the Insert menu, select Auto Text and then select Auto Text... A list of Word's default auto text entries appears.
4. From the list of auto text entries, select Filename with path and double-click on it.
5. The file's name and its path is inserted. Format the text to a smaller font size.
6. When you move the document or change its name, you can update its Filename with path entry by selecting it and pressing the [F9] function key!

can't remember the last place you were working?

Press shift + F5 repeatedly to return to the last 5 cursor positions (even if one of those positions is in another open document).
