accessing UMChat

Are you ready to chat?

Follow these simple steps to access UMChat:

• Use a supported browsers
  • Windows – IE 5.0 or higher, Netscape 6 & 7, Mozilla
  • Mac – Mozilla
• Initialize your account
  • Open a web browser and go to http://chat.umn.edu/account. If prompted, log in using your University Internet ID and password.
  • In the Account Maintenance page type in a password that you will use for accessing the Jabber Web client.
  • Click the Create an Account button.
    

Note about Jabber Passwords
The Jabber password is used to access the Jabber Web Client. Use your University Internet ID and password to log into the Jabber account page, where you can access the web client or change your Jabber password.
