A free online orientation is now available for students. It is intended for students taking courses using Moodle sites for web-based learning activities and course materials.

which browser should I use?

Firefox is the recommended browser for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms. More information on technical requirements is available from the Moodle Support Site at http://www.umn.edu/moodle/start/technical.html

how do I request a site?

To request a Moodle site, fill out an online request form:

     http://www.umn.edu/moodle/instructor/request.html

Specify whether the site is for an academic course, or for non-academic or development purposes.

which site format should I use?

Once you've received your requested Moodle site, you will need to choose a format for the overall organization. You can choose to order your course chronologically by week, conceptually by topic, or socially with a forum or discussion board as the central organizing principle. To choose a format, select Settings from the Administrative block.
