MS Office 2007 Overview

This 3-hour course will introduce participants to the new interface and features of Word, Excel and PowerPoint in Microsoft Office 2007. Participants will work with files from all three applications to explore enhancements to the Office system. Participants are invited to bring their own files to class for experimentation. This course is intended for users who have familiarity with at least one of the covered applications.

Microsoft e-learning courses on Office applications are also available at no charge to University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students.

Topics include:

  • working with the new Office 2007 interface
  • finding the tools you want
  • understanding the new XML file type
  • collaborating with users of earlier versions of Office
  • saving to PDF
  • using the galleries and Live Preview to quickly apply formats
  • using SmartArt to visually enhance text
  • using conditional formatting to quickly highlight data trends and changes
  • using table formats to manipulate large sets of data more easily
  • finding resources for more information

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.

Platform

This course is taught on the Windows platform using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 2007.

Fees

No fee. Registration required.
