This 7-hour workshop will introduce participants to using a geographic information system (GIS) to analyze data and create maps. Through a combination of presentations and hands-on exercises, participants will learn basic GIS concepts and the fundamentals of spatial analysis.
Although this workshop is taught using ArcView, the concepts apply to geographic information systems in general.
This workshop is made possible by support provided by the College of Design, the College of Liberal Arts, the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, the Institute on the Environment, the Minnesota Population Center, the University of Minnesota Libraries, the Office of Information Technology, the School of Public Health, and the State Health Access Data Assistance Center.
Basic spreadsheet or database knowledge.
This course is taught on the Windows platform using ArcView 9.2.
No fee. Registration required.
