Google Apps: Collaborating in the University Environment - Hands-on

This 3-hour hands-on course provides a tour of the applications available within the University's Google Apps environment. This overview will demonstrate how easy it is to collaborate on a project with different people, and how the different applications are designed to facilitate this goal. This overview will also point out some of the issues users may encounter with the transition to Google Apps, including efficiency tips and conceptual differences with other commonly used software.

This is the hands-on version of the Google Apps overview. This overview is also available as a 1.5-hour seminar and an an online, self-paced learning opportunity.

Topics include:

• organizing and finding messages in Gmail
• collaboratively authoring documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with Google Docs
• using Google forms to gather information
• chatting with individuals and groups using Google Chat
• using a Web site in Google Sites to organize a collaborative project
