Mobile-Friendly Web Pages

This 3.5-hour class presents a web standards approach to creating and maintaining a mobile-friendly version of an existing website using CSS layouts and Dreamweaver. Participants will learn how mobile platforms differ from a traditional desktop platform, strategies for delivering a mobile-friendly layout, and current practices for organizing and maintaining a multi-platform website.

While this course uses Dreamweaver for in-class demonstrations and hands-on activities, proficiency with Dreamweaver is not a requirement, and the information presented is not specific to web development with Dreamweaver.

Topics include:

  • discussing the state of the mobile platform
  • using CSS for a mobile-friendly layout of an existing website
  • discussing the pros and cons of using a separate, mobile-friendly version of an existing website
  • presenting current practices for design and layout

Prerequisites

Intermediate proficiency with HTML/XHTML and CSS. Knowledge equivalent to

This course is taught on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms using Dreamweaver CS3.

Fees

No fee. Registration required.
